Washoe County NV - Over a thousand homeless children in Washoe County are transported to school by bus every school day from homeless shelters. The children are in the shelters for different reasons, but all are homeless with no stability in their lives except for school.
The kids are "children living in motels, in campers in a campground, at a domestic violence shelter, a homeless shelter", according to Gloria Bratiotis from the office of Children In Transition. The Washoe County School District runs the program for it's students. It provides them free meals, clothing, and school supplies.
